Smell
Notes of blackberry, bramble, and spice leap from the glass of this wine, with hints of coffee, cinnamon, and white pepper adding depth and interest. The use of older barrels in aging adds softness without intruding on the complexity of the fruit.
Taste
Full-bodied but somehow still nimble and elegant, this is a wonderful example of Rhône Syrah. Plush texture and refined tannins resolve in a dry, lingering finish. Decant in the short term, or cellar to allow more nuance to emerge over time.
Pairing
This muscular Crozes-Hermitage pairs effortlessly with olive tapenade, rack of lamb, grilled steak or roasted duck.

Description
Domaine Equis is the project of Maxime Graillot, son of Rhône legend Alain Graillot, and it's clear that winemaking chops run in the family. In 2004, after training under his father for years, Maxime decided to begin splitting his time between helping his father and establishing his own winery. Using fruit from organically-farmed vineyards (one of which is adjacent to his father's Domaine Alain Graillot), Maxime began making wines in his own style. Emphasizing expressiveness and concentrated, powerful fruit, the wines of Domaine Equis both honour the Graillot name and blaze a new path forward.
Their Domaine des Lises is 100% Syrah from 40+ year old vines, and is a stunning example of Crozes-Hermitage that can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to a decade. Serve at 18 C.
