Profile

Description

The family's roots that began this winery go back to the 1800's with the family exporting wines to the distant lands of the Savoy. Generation after generation of family members have carried this winery into the present day, where in 1980, the Di Carlo family decided to transition all of their production into becoming certified organic. Agriverde's main objective is to operate respecting the environment and to protect the balance of the natural system. It was in recent years Agriverde also achieved Certified organic vegan. They are one of the first wineries to be certified organic in Italy. The winery is situated in Ortona in the province of Chieti. Pecorino grows in the Marche, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio regions. The name "Pecorino" is derived from the Italian word "Pecora" which translates to sheep. According to the local people of the Marche, the grape grows in the mountains where the sheep used to graze and the sheep would often eat them while moving through the vineyards. It grows well in the coastal climate of Abruzzo where it has become something of a signature of the region. This wine was vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged in bottle. The palate is fresh with a firm structure, a medium body and bright acidity. This wine is fruit-driven with underlying notes of brush sage, hawthorn, Italian peaches, ripe pear, fresh nectarines and orange peel.
