Description
This wine is made from what is considered very old Friulano vineyards. The terroir is old stony gravel with reddish clay that is rich in iron oxides and aluminum. The grapes were harvested in mid-September and the grapes were gently destemmed and lightly crushed before the fermentation began in stainless steel tanks at a cool 15/18 degrees. The wine rested on its lees for ten months before being bottled and aged in the cellar for further settling. Friulano, when made well has a high degree of silkiness to the eye and displays a pale-yellow core with light green highlights. Very Brilliant in colour. The nose is a bit shy at first, the fruit is rather delicate but as the wine sits in the glass, the fruit becomes more apparent and a myriad of aromas come out. Typical scents of garden thyme, wild flowers with delicate hints of yeast, and unripe apples and pears are present. Soft apricot and honey finish with citrus and mineral notes. Very firm on the palate and savoury with a long complex dry finish. Amandum is a family-owned winery that has rested in the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia, for over three generations. The Amandum line is dedicated to Bianca and her daughter Anna, the women who began farming the land. The family estate lies in Gorizia, which is located between the ancient Isonzo and Vipacco valleys in Friuli, which borders Slovenia. Protected by the Julian Alps to the north and influenced by the Adriatic, the vineyards are in harmony with the land.
