Description
Since 2016 this winery began converting its vineyards to all organic farming practices and is today, the largest organic producer of wine in Germany with over 45 hectares now certified organic. Family owned and operated, by Stefan and Christian Ress, fourth and fifth-generation family members who run the estate. They are lucky to be one of the few owners that own vineyards in top locations throughout the Reingau from Assmannshausen to Hattenheim. Their winemaking approach mimics their vineyards approach, to create wines of distinction that are in their most natural state possible. Less is more in their approach and the wines often see practices that minimize the use of added sulfates and extended lees time also create wines with more structure, density, and complexity - the things that make a wine great for cellar aging. There is a careful balance between traditional methods and modern ones. There is a careful dedication to the creation of their wines so that they are pure examples of where they hail from. The Pinot Blanc has wonderful layers of acacia wood, fresh peach, and ambrosia apples. Mineral-driven and dry with a delicate complexity and fresh acidity. Bracing and fresh on the palate with hints of vanilla, stone fruits, and pink grapefruit.
