Profile

Smell

This Merlot-Petit Verdot blend has aromas of plump red fruit: raspberry, sour red cherry, and plum. There are also some spicy notes of tobacco and pepper, along with a subtle suggestion of balsamic.

Taste

This wine is powerful and intense and it bursts out of the glass with ripe red fruit flavours, like raspberry, cherry, and plum. There are secondary flavours of tobacco, coffee, chocolate, pepper, and some earthiness. The wine has a medium+ body, with medium acidity and tannins. This blend is well integrated and has a lovely and persistent finish.

Pairing

Match this wine with a charcuterie plate, featuring Spanish classics like Manchego, Jamón Ibérico and briny olives.

Aromas and Flavours

Raspberry

Tangy or sweet, juicy or tart: more sophisticated than a strawberry, but just as lush.

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Plum

Sweet, fruity and sensual, similar stone fruit aromas to a peach, but without the 'fuzziness'.

Tobacco

The smell of a freshly rolled cigar, slightly sweet, and earthy - just like Grandpa's hugs.

Pepper

A whiff of a freshly used pepper grinder - spicy and fresh, without the itchy nose.

Description

Bodegas Francisco Gómez is a vineyard located close to the city of Villena, in Valencia. There have been grapes grown and wine made in Valencia for several thousand years. Strangely, after all that time, the wines are not as well known internationally as they should be, based on their quality. At Bodegas Francisco Gómez, all of the grape growing and wine production follows the strict rules of organic and biodynamic farming practices. Their wines are certified by the EU as organic, vegan, and kosher. The bodegas does not use chemicals, toxins, pesticides, or GMO products, as they have a great respect for the environment. Their farm is in an ideal valley location, protected by mountains, where the climate is Mediterranean; winters are cold and the summers are hot. There is a unique microclimate and a rich biodiversity here - perfect for growing grapes. This wine should be served at 16 C, and can be enjoyed now or cellared until 2025.
