Profile

Description

Château de Peyrel is located in the French region of Bergerac, just east of Bordeaux. Like its much more famous neighbour, the region is known mostly for red wines made primarily from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. And like Bordeaux, the region's white wines are some of the wine world's best-kept secrets! We're thrilled to share this example from Château de Peyrel, made from fruit sourced from the winery's 60-plus year old vines. It's primarily made from Sémillon, with a small percentage of both Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc added for aromatic complexity. Ageing on fine lees adds depth and texture to this fresh, dry wine, and there's no oak used at all, preserving the wine's natural freshness and fruit-forward nature. Enjoy this blend at about 8 C over the next 2-3 years.

Pairing

Try this Sémillon-heavy blend with Thai red curry or Palak Paneer - it pairs well with spicy dishes so don't be afraid of some heat!

Aromas and Flavours

Melon

Sweet and fruity, with a particular flavour/scent that resembles persimmons

Orange

Sweet, somewhat spicy, with sharp bitterness on the nose, balanced with sweet freshness.

Peach

Fuzzy peach candies, or real-life fuzzy peaches fresh from a fresh B.C fruit stand.

Almond

All of you home-bakers out there will recognize this smell the next time you use marzipan.

Grapefruit

As refreshing as aromas come, the smell of grapefruit is purely invigorating.
