Profile

Description

Château de Peyrel is located in the French region of Bergerac, just east of Bordeaux. Like its much more famous neighbour, the area is known mostly for red wines made primarily from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Though the estate had been abandoned for half a century, current owner Franck Descouroux saw the property's potential to make great wine and lovingly restored both the vineyards and the winery. Now, the estate's 60+ year old vines are farmer organically, and much of their fruit goes to making this flagship red. It's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, fermented in stainless steel to preserve fresh fruit flavour and aromas. Enjoy over the next 3 years at about 18 C.

Pairing

Try this Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend with a classic pot roast or a burger topped with sauteed mushrooms and Swiss cheese.

Aromas and Flavours

Bramble

Juicy dark berries picked straight from the bush, with a subtle hint of leaf and earthiness.

Blackberry

A little sweet, a little tart, this black fruit is rather quiet but persistent.

Raspberry

Tangy or sweet, juicy or tart: more sophisticated than a strawberry, but just as lush.

Herbs

Your windowsill herb garden gives off a lovely herbal smell every time you walk by.

Pepper

A whiff of a freshly used pepper grinder - spicy and fresh, without the itchy nose.
