Profile

Description

This wine hails from land that is close to the Gironde in Bordeaux, an area that was designated AOC back in 1936. Historically we have the Romans to thank for draining the marshes of Bordeaux and setting up camp which also included the planting of vines. Blaye today, can boast some of the best value Bordeaux wine the region has to offer. A sumptuous blend of classic varietals from this region give us a wine that is full bodied, expressive and full of nuisances like plum tart, leather, cassis, pepper and baking spice.

Pairing

Savoury roasted elk, caramelized onion tart, hearty beef bourguignon, flavourful mushroom bruschetta, and tender lamb sliders.

Aromas and Flavours

Black currant

Sometimes also referred to as 'cassis', this black fruit tasting note is common in red wines.

Leather

Ever gotten into a car with leather seats, or taken a big whiff of your dad's leather jacket?

Blackberry

A little sweet, a little tart, this black fruit is rather quiet but persistent.

Plum

Sweet, fruity and sensual, similar stone fruit aromas to a peach, but without the 'fuzziness'.

Spice

Warm, sensuous, exotic, fragrant, aromatic-like the first whiff of clove.
