Profile

Description

The south of France is a hotbed of exciting wines at the moment, combining centuries of grape-growing knowhow with an enterprising, creative spirit. The diversity of grapes and soils, combined with a broadly warm, dry, climate, have drawn ambitious winemakers from elsewhere in France and from around the world. Domaine de Castelnau, located in the Pays d'Oc, is a fantastic example of the level of quality possible from this dynamic region. Viognier is one of southern France's star white grapes. It's the only permitted grape variety in prestigious Condrieu, but is grown throughout the region. When it's fermented at cool temperatures and aged in stainless steel like this delicious example from Domaine de Castelnau, it expresses all of its signature aromatics while preserving the grape's natural acidity. This is a great white for fall, perfect for cooler evenings and heartier meals. Enjoy at about 8 C over the next 2 years.
