Profile

Description

This wine bursts with aromas and flavours of bright cherry, fresh raspberries, bramble, and sweet baking spice. With hints of mint in the background this wine has a juicy tart edge and a palate that is rounded and generous. There is a careful use of oak here, not enough to mask any of the fruit but enough to give it a distinctive creamy vanilla pop of flavour. Herbal notes are balanced by black tea leaves and tannins and are very supple and generous. Fossil Point pays homage to where they are located in their name-it is in recognition of the fossilized oyster beds in the millennia-old calcareous soils Fossil Point pays tribute to this bond between sea and vine. Located less than five miles due west of our winery, Fossil Point has a direct ocean influence, the Pacific is right beside it and they have sweeping views of the coastline from Port San Luis to the Guadalupe Dunes. With nature right next door, Fossil Point practices sustainable vineyard and winery practices to ensure the health of their environment. All of their vineyards, as well as the farmers that they purchase fruit from, are engaged in sustainable winegrowing practices. The majority are certified under the Sustainability in Practice (SIP) program, which was developed right here on the Central Coast. With careful metrics and annual audits, SIP provides a set of standards to promote the long-term health of our vineyards, environment, people, and businesses.

Pairing

Miso glazed cod, pork belly, and aubergine parmigiana.

Aromas and Flavours

Raspberry

Tangy or sweet, juicy or tart: more sophisticated than a strawberry, but just as lush.

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Bramble

Juicy dark berries picked straight from the bush, with a subtle hint of leaf and earthiness.

Mint

A touch of sweet and cooling herbal flavours, think gum, but without the intense menthol

Tea

A warm cup of Earl grey tea - with floral scents and slightly earthy notes.
