Description
Ever since we first tasted (and featured) Bocanegra, we were convinced of the quality and integrity of Francisco Gómez's wines. When we found out about VID-A, his newest line of organic and biodynamic wines, we were eager to taste them, and we were not disappointed! Spanish rosés can fall into a wide range of styles, from fuller-bodied expressions that more closely resemble light reds, to elegant and delicate examples that rival the wines of Provence. VID-A falls towards the lighter end of the spectrum, and is made from a blend of Monastrell (Mourvedre in France) and Syrah - the same grapes you'll find in many rosés from the south of France.
As with most rosés, VID-A is fermented dry, but flavours of ripe field strawberry and raspberry lend an impression of sweetness to the palate. The winery's focus on environmental issues have led them to convert fully to organic and biodynamic practices, so this is not only a delicious wine, but a winery you can feel good about supporting! Serve this refreshing summertime treat at about 8 C and enjoy over the next two years.
Pairing
A delicious aperitif wine to enjoy on its own, this would also pair beautifully with a cool, refreshing watermelon salad.
