Garenne Chardonnay

Description

We're longtime fans of Domaine de Castelnau, which has been helmed for the last 26 years by husband and wife team Béatrice and Christophe Muret. Under their careful direction and thoughtful farming, the estate has been awarded the High Environmental Value (HVE) Certification level 3 - the highest possible recognition of the work the Muret family does to protect their precious natural environment. The winery is housed in a centuries-old building just outside the village of Castelnau de Guers, midway between the Massif Central mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. Warm summer days coupled with cooling maritime breezes create a perfect microclimate for ripening grapes. Like all their wines, grapes for this unoaked Chardonnay are harvested at night when they are at their coolest, to preserve refreshing acidity and balance. Serve at about 8 C and enjoy over the next two years.

Easy-going and balanced, this crowd-pleaser of a Chardonnay would be a great match for fresh summer salads, grilled fish, or herb-roasted chicken.
