Description
It's hard not to fall in love with the wines of Idun when you hear their story: Charismatic Frenchman Albert Rousset and his family were on a trip to South Africa to find a special needs school fro their son Leo, and while passing through the Elgin Valley, they were struck by the landscape, the people, and the limitless potential of the region's wine. Determined to start a winery in the area, they took inspiration from the valley's famously delicious apples and named the project Idun, after the Norse goddess of eternal life, fertility, and apples.
Fast-forward a few years, and the Rousset family has already made a name for themselves as producers of elegant, focussed wines. Their Cabriole (named after a ballet leap) is mostly Sauvignon Blanc with a hint of Semillon for texture and richness. A small portion of the blend sees time in oak, and the final wine is complex and refreshing. Enjoy over the next 2-3 years at about 6 C.
Pairing
This is one of the few wine styles that can stand up to punchy vegetal flavours, so match this with grilled asparagus or a pesto flatbread.

Remember playing with pebbles as a child and giving them a lick out of curiosity?

The sweet aroma of the tropics wafting from your glass - you can almost hear the waves crashing.
