Profile

Description

In 1961, Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis met while picking grapes. They had both migrated from sunny Greece to the equally sun-drenched Riverland area of South Australia, and together, they founded a little farm, including a humble vineyard. Their son Bill founded a winery next to the vineyard in the 1980s, and grew their Kingston Estate Wines into one the largest and most widely recognized brands in the Australian wine scene. The entire family, third generation included, is involved in the company today, and many independent growers supply fruit to them from all over Riverland. Kingston Estate Wines are pioneering champions of Petit Verdot in Riverland, where the Mediterranean climate allows the grape to ripen to perfection, resulting in complex, full-bodied wines marketed as “sunshine in a glass”. The grapes for this wine are sourced exclusively from Kingston Estate own vineyards with a unique soil and microclimate. Serve at 18 ºC, and enjoy between now and 2025.

Pairing

Well-aged or smoked cheeses, spicy merguez sausage, or pork meatballs would all be excellent matches for this Petit Verdot.

Aromas and Flavours

Plum

Sweet, fruity and sensual, similar stone fruit aromas to a peach, but without the 'fuzziness'.

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Smoke

Reminds you of singing songs by the campfire on a beautiful summer evening.

Rose

'A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.' We should all stop and smell them more often...

Stone

Remember playing with pebbles as a child and giving them a lick out of curiosity?
