Description
The Tramier family has deep roots in Burgundy, and their history and connection to the land allows them to produce some true gems at remarkable price points. As longtime fans of this historic Mercurey house, we jumped at the chance to feature not one, but two of their releases under their Roncier label. Made from fruit sourced from both their own and contract vineyards throughout the south of France, these wines represent exceptional value in a wine category that is being increasingly priced out of everyday enjoyment.
While the family's roots stretch back to 1842, they've embraced modern innovations and a deeper understanding of advances in winemaking to bring their traditional know-how into the 21st century. Named "l’épine" (thorn, in English), this 100% Chardonnay captures the energetic, prickly acidity that is possible (but too often overlooked) in this classic French grape variety. Enjoy over the next 3 years at about 10 C.
Pairing
This more fruit forward, acid driven style of Chardonnay pairs best with fish, quiche or creamy pasta dishes - the bright acidity with cut the richness of the sauce.
