Profile

Description

Located in the small, picturesque Languedoc village of Montpeyroux, CastelBarry is a cooperative cellar that was founded in 1950. When the original 75 growers came together to form the cellar, the five jobs that were created at the co-op made the winery the town's largest employer! Since then, the values of sustainable agriculture and the focus on high-quality wine has remained unchanged, and the winery pays tribute to these values with Les Coopains: a range of wines that highlight the region's star grape varieties. A play on "copain," which means friend or buddy, and a nod to the cooperative structure of the winery, Les Coopains Blanc is made from 100% Grenache Blanc. Related to the Spanish red Garnacha, Grenache Blanc is an important blending grape in the south of France, but here it's the star of the show. Unoaked and expressive, this white should be enjoyed over the next 2 years, served at about 8 C.

Pairing

Try with a homemade French bouillabaisse, or serve alongside classic entertaining appetizers like asparagus and mushroom tartlets, which will enhance the wine's savoury notes.
