Profile

Description

Pattini Chianti might be familiar to longtime WineCollective members - we first featured this gem of an Italian red in the spring of 2020, and the vintage quickly sold out. With the release of a new vintage (along with a 91-point score from noted Italian wine critic Luca Maroni), we couldn't resist reintroducing this wine to our members. It's every bit as good as the last vintage, and displays classic Chianti charm and loads of personality. The company behind the label is Progetti Agricoli, which works with small producers throughout Italy to get their wines to international markets and in the glasses of wine lovers all over the world. Pattini produces two Chiantis: a Riserva, and this Chianti DOCG. Made primarily from estate-grown Sangiovese with a splash of Canaiolo (a minor but important blending grape), Pattini is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and aged in neutral cement tanks before release. It's a perfect go-to Chianti that can be enjoyed over the next two years at a cool 16 C.

Pairing

Match this wine's bright acidity with old school Italian-American classics like spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmigiana, or your favourite local pizza.

Aromas and Flavours

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Black currant

Sometimes also referred to as 'cassis', this black fruit tasting note is common in red wines.

Raspberry

Tangy or sweet, juicy or tart: more sophisticated than a strawberry, but just as lush.

Stone

Remember playing with pebbles as a child and giving them a lick out of curiosity?

Leaf

When was the last time you raked up all the leaves in your yard and jumped in the pile?
