Profile

Description

The wines of South West France offer some of the most attractive and quality-driven wines that you can find in France. Not sure where this region is? The South West is located between the Pyrenees Mountains and Bordeaux to the north. It’s a truly beautiful landscape here, with vineyards and forests side by side. This region has a rich range of wines to choose from and is also one of the largest vineyards in France. With over 47,000 hectares of land under vine, this region offers an impressive diversity of landscapes and climates. There are a vast number of different appellations, and the selection of grapes is just as diverse as the wine styles. One grape stands out in this region, and that is Malbec. Malbec, or Cot, as it is referred to here, by the locals is very different in style and flavour to the Argent examples out on the market. In the South West, there is a zone-Cahors that is the original home of this varietal. Lionel Osmin & Cie is the brand behind the Pyrene Lune Noir Malbec. A brokerage house that specializes in the unique wines of the South West. This wine comes from the Comté Tolossan zone. Wonderfully fragrant, it's full in body and rich in black and blue fruit. Savoury, with hints of juniper, nutmeg and cedar.

Pairing

Pork meatballs with creamy sage sauce, grilled cheese sandwich, roasted stuffed peppers.

Aromas and Flavours

Blueberry

Eating handfuls of berries straight from the bush, your fingers stained purple for days to come.

Cedar-oak

An intriguing mix of clove, sandalwood and resin - the smell of your favourite wooded trail.

Blackberry

A little sweet, a little tart, this black fruit is rather quiet but persistent.

Spice

Warm, sensuous, exotic, fragrant, aromatic-like the first whiff of clove.

Olive

Briny quality, slightly bitter and green. Think about that dirty Martini you recently had!
