Profile

Description

Produced by two wine-making sisters, Constance and Maria Schwaderer who are constantly on the move, exploring the myriad of regional vineyards that Chile has to offer. Part of the MOVI Movement which is a small group of independent wine producers who make high-quality private wines. This movement is dedicated to a new way of seeing and producing Chilean wines that are perhaps somewhat different from their existing counterparts. The focus is to make wines on a smaller scale, and verge on very unique-something very different from what Chile is mostly known for: mass industrialization of production. Each member creates wines that complement one another's wines, and they are reflective of the terroir that they come from and each has their own identity. MOVI members produce wines that are: Organic, Biodynamic, "Garage Wine", and some are exclusively dry-farmed. The sisters want to produce wines that show their inherent love of the land and love of their grapes. They craft wines with personality, which should be enjoyed solely with those that you love. Constanza Schwaderer was named the best Chilean Winemaker in 2015 by Chile's Gastronomic Circle. Carignan is not a varietal that you see on its own, as it is primarily used as a blending grape in France's famous Rhone Valley. But here we see it as an old vine Carignan that is from the region of Cauquenes, barrel-aged in French oak barriques for 14 months before being bottled. The core of this wine has such an intensity, is bright ruby, and opaque in density. The nose displays notes of graphite, fresh strawberry, cherry, and rich chocolate. Hints of char rest in the background. Lovely and inviting, with an attractive long, round length.
