Profile

Description

Made in an "old world" California style, this wine is brimming with notes of mocha, ripe raspberry, creamy strawberries, and black pepper. The body is supple yet structured. Zinfandel has a muddled history, with relations in Croatia and Italy, it has no doubt a European ancestry. Shed Horn is located in the Center of California wine country. Located in the mountains high above Sonoma and Napa, this winery sourced their vineyards in the high elevation terrain of Lake County. The wines are produced by Michael Wood, who besides being the owner of Shed Horn has for many years prior, gained his experience by producing wines for many wineries in this area.

Pairing

Roasted vegetable pasta, aged firm cheeses, and savoury portabello mushroom burgers.

Aromas and Flavours

Raspberry

Tangy or sweet, juicy or tart: more sophisticated than a strawberry, but just as lush.

Strawberry

A sweet, almost caramel-like aroma reminiscent of your favourite juicy, red berry.

Mocha

Combines the bold flavours of coffee and chocolate. Creamy, fragrant, warming.

Pepper

A whiff of a freshly used pepper grinder - spicy and fresh, without the itchy nose.

Vanilla

A sweet spice aroma that indicates oak-ageing - think vanilla bean frappuccino!
