Profile

Description

Malbec has its origins deep in France, in Bordeaux country where it was originally part of the famous Bordeaux blend. The varietal was introduced to Argentina by french agronomist Michel AIme Pouget in the 1850s. The rest is history. The word 'Telteca" means "ripe fruit" in the local language of Mendoza's native tribe, the Huarpe. Made by the Agostino family (with Canadian Origins), they honour the tribe who has survived this desert landscape and pay tribute to their respect for nature. Rich in nature with a dazzling display of black fruits, plum and black pepper. Dry with polished tannins and notes of toasted bark on the finish.

Pairing

Juicy pork tomahawk, succulent roasted lamb shoulder, and aromatic Moroccan spiced kabobs.

Aromas and Flavours

Cherry

Fresh B.C. cherries out of the back of a truck, all eaten before you can get them home!

Plum

Sweet, fruity and sensual, similar stone fruit aromas to a peach, but without the 'fuzziness'.

Pepper

A whiff of a freshly used pepper grinder - spicy and fresh, without the itchy nose.

Bark

Ever hugged a tree? That warm earthy, pine smell with hints of vanilla with just the slightest hint of must.

Earth

Reminiscent of playing in the fresh dirt as a child, that black earth rolling around your fingers. Damp, woodsy, balsam.
