Profile

Description

There is a lot of confusion around the history of this grape and where it came from, but current research suggests it originated in Argentina. Torrontes is a wacky grape - it has this delicious tropical fruit character that is backed up by this intense salty distinctiveness, which downplays any residual sugar if the wine has any. They can be light in style and fresh to heady and intensely perfumed often expressing spicy soapy nuances. Torrontes as a grape actually has several different varieties the most significant are: Sanjuanino, Mendocino, and Riojano. This grape thrives in high-altitude ranges. The Telteca Winery was founded by the Agostino family, who after establishing a successful real estate company in Canada, returned to their homeland of Mendoza.
