Profile

Description

Terra De Asorei is located in the region of Rias Baixas, which is housed in Galicia, in northwestern Spain. Galicia is home to one of Spain’s most beloved white grapes, Albariño. The Albariño grape thrives in this perfect, cooler, Atlantic-influenced corner of the country. Asorei farms 60 hectares of vines, aged between 15 and 80 year-old-vines. The estate is located in the sub-zone of the Salnés Valley, which is centred around the town of Cambados. The winery was formed in 2008 and became a mini-cooperative when six families came together to form one entity. They source their Albariño from small lot plantations in Cambados which is considered the capital of Albariño in Salnés County. The soil here is a mixture of granite, sand, and clay. These soils contribute mineral notes to the wines produced here. While remaining true to its traditional roots, Asorei combines modern practices to protect the land they love so much. They cultivate their vineyards using sustainable and environmentally friendly methods and practise manual harvesting for all three of their Albariño lines. This wine has been macerated in stainless steel before fermentation and has aged on its lees for 24 months. The resulting wine is an iconic example of what this zone can produce. Incredibly fresh, yet it shows the weight on the palate, with hints of saline and fruit like pink grapefruit. Fresh herbs like dill and bay leaf are present, combined with balsam aromatics. The length of the wine showcases incredible minerality.
