Description
This winery emerged in 2013 with the concept of creating wines that capture the terroir of the Rueda region. Located in the heart of Valladolid, in Castilla y León, this winery is managed by esteemed winemaker, Antonio Nieto, who has been at the helm since inception. The vineyards benefit from an extreme continental climate, with notable temperature fluctuations between day and night. This helps establish outstanding concentration and a perfect balance between acidity and sweetness. There is large diversity within the varieties they grow: Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Gewurztraminer, and Tempranillo, among others. Valdecuevas wines are a balance between traditional and modern techniques. The grapes that make up this wine come from the historic "Pago de la Pardina" vineyard in the La Pardina estate, which is primarily made up of stony soils. These soils promote depth of flavour and balanced ripening. This Verdejo has seen extended maceration time and controlled fermentation with subsequent ageing on its lees for three months. The nose is intensely aromatic, with notes of stone fruit like white peach and apricot. On the palate, you will also find fennel and sharp citrus notes. Fresh and full, with balanced acidity, persistent mouthfeel, and a long finish. Verdejo is indigenous to Rueda, which is labelled as Spain’s most famous white wine zone.
