Profile

Description

The Touraine appellation is in the Loire Valley, located close to the town of Tours, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of France. The area is sometimes referred to as the ‘garden of France’ due to its picturesque landscapes and beautiful châteaux. The area is known for producing dry, white wines. The Vignoble Gibault vineyards, which have been run by the Gibault family for three generations, are planted on the age-old hillsides of the Cher River. You will find flinty clay soils up on slopes where the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety really expresses all its subtle complexity. This flinty soil brings intense aromatics to these white wines. This vineyard is spread over 30 hectares where the provinces of Berry, Touraine, and Sologne meet. Owners Chantal and Patrick Gibault are very environmentally conscious in the approach they take in growing their vines. In fact, they have been awarded Terra Vitis environmental certification. Serve this Sauvignon Blanc chilled at 8 C, from now until 2023.

Pairing

This Sauvignon Blanc would be wonderful with chicken or tofu in a herb-based sauce. It would also work really well when paired with Thai or Vietnamese cuisine.

Aromas and Flavours

Grapefruit

As refreshing as aromas come, the smell of grapefruit is purely invigorating.

Lemon-lime

Common in cool climate white wines, this aroma can range from fresh citrus to lemon zest.

Apple

From Granny Smith to Red Delicious, apple makes for a delightfully crisp aroma.

Melon

Sweet and fruity, with a particular flavour/scent that resembles persimmons

Stone

Remember playing with pebbles as a child and giving them a lick out of curiosity?
