Profile

Description

Bodega Mi Terruño has been a longtime favourite of ours at WineCollective, and we're excited to share the new vintage of their stunning Reserve-level Malbec! The family-owned winery is located in the San Roque district, in Mendoza's Maipú county. Mi Terruño's Baigorria family have been connected to the wine business since the 1960s, with the aim of producing wines that express their pride in Mendoza. The wines are all created with the intention of highlighting key grape varietals from their terroir, or 'terruño'. In cooler conditions at higher altitudes, Malbec grapes are thick-skinned, which develops tannins. The cooler evenings at higher allow the grapes to ripen slowly, which preserves acidity. Mendoza's highest altitude regions of Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley, in the foothills of the Andes Mountain, are between 2,800 and 5,000m. Mi Terruño Reserve Malbec is sourced from the 100-year-old Perdriel Vineyard in Luján de Cuyo. Enjoy this classic Malbec at about 18 C over the next 3-5 years.

Pairing

Pair the structured tannins of this powerful red with a pan-seared beef tenderloin with a rich jus and roasted seasonal vegetables.

Aromas and Flavours

Blackberry

A little sweet, a little tart, this black fruit is rather quiet but persistent.

Jam

Spreading grandma's homemade jam on your morning toast (yes, the bread was homemade too).

Black currant

Sometimes also referred to as 'cassis', this black fruit tasting note is common in red wines.

Vanilla

A sweet spice aroma that indicates oak-ageing - think vanilla bean frappuccino!

Cedar-oak

An intriguing mix of clove, sandalwood and resin - the smell of your favourite wooded trail.
