Smell
Textbook Malbec aromas waft from the glass of this inky purple wine, and each swirl reveals layers of blackberry compote, black cherry, currants and jam. Hints of sweet tobacco, cinnamon and clove emerge with air, and there's a distinct spiciness lingering in the background.
Taste
Full-bodied, rich, and plush on the palate, Pagano Malbec over-delivers with loads of ripe blue and black fruit flavours. Blackberry, plum and blueberry intermingle with toasted spice, vanilla bean, and pepper. The finish is long and dense, with balanced acidity and ripe, soft tannins.
Pairing
Pagano Malbec displays the variety's signature bold flavours that call for a robust meal, so pair with a grilled steak or a spicy vegetarian chili.

Blackberry

Description
Pagano Malbec is an exciting new project from Argentina's Bodega Bourras, the collaborative partnership between Canadians Katrina O'Reilly-Ryan and Gordon Ryan, and Argentinian winemaker Jose Gomez. We've been longtime admirers of their wines since they launched in the Canadian market, so the opportunity to get the first crack at this new release was too good to pass up! Since the winery's inception in 2010, they've built their reputation on top-quality Bonarda, but they're equally capable with Argentina's most popular red grape. They apply their singular focus on small lots of high-quality fruit to this new venture, and the results speak for themselves! Sourced from a vineyard in San Rafael, in the heart of Mendoza, Pagano is a classic example of a perennially popular style. Serve at about 18 C, and enjoy over the next 2-3 years.
